update on crash bus funchal
The President of the Republic traveled to the Hospital Dr. Nélio Mendonça today and visited the wounded of the accident that involved a bus, noting that
“most” of the German tourists who are there return to his country on Saturday.
“As I said, tomorrow [Saturday] many of the sick here are Germans, the vast majority go to their homes, but I have found in those German tourists with
whom I spoke just the same will, the same recognition, the same gratitude and the same will not to forget Madeira and to return, “Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa
told reporters outside Funchal hospital.
The head of state said that he had been with the two Portuguese who are also hospitalised there, the driver – “Mr. Zé” – and the guide – “to Carlota”,
noting that she is “a woman in arms”, and that she “is very resistant”.
Marcelo also wanted to express the “gratitude of all the Portuguese” for the work developed by those who helped the victims.
Thanks for sharing this update Jamie. I hope that that they will understand what happened to cause this and hopefully, be able to prevent another accident from happening in the future. Hope that the injured will be healed and back home to Germany in no time at all. Hugs and blessings, melina
